Amela Ahmetovic
Associate Attorney
Amela Ahmetovic is an associate attorney whose practice focuses primarily on family law including, but not limited to, divorce and parental rights & responsibilities. Amela’s practice also focuses on protection from abuse and harassment, child protective custody, and probate matters.
In 2009, Amela graduated Fairfield University magna cum laude, with a double major in Psychology and German. After graduation, Amela focused on clinical trial research and worked for the U.S. Department of Defense and Yale School of Medicine.
In 2016, Amela started her legal journey at the University of Maine School of Law. While in law school, Amela was active as a student attorney with the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. Amela served as a student attorney in the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic, which provided an outlet allowing her engage in the work about which she is most passionate: helping others, particularly those who may be disadvantaged by virtue of circumstances outside of their control. In this role, Amela advocated on behalf of individuals without status in the United States, including to work toward affirmative asylum in one case. Amela complimented this work in her service as a student attorney in the Juvenile Justice Clinic, in which role she defended juveniles in Maine District Court, including to advocate successfully against the detention of juveniles unfortunate enough to find themselves caught up in the juvenile justice system.
Amela further served as a student intern with the District Attorney’s Office in her final year of law school. Ultimately, however, Amela found her passion and purpose as an advocate for those most in need of zealous advocacy in an adversarial legal system. Prior to joining Fairfield & Associates, P.A. in July of 2020, Amela worked as an associate with another boutique law firm in Midcoast Maine.
Outside of work, Amela enjoys exploring new destinations near and far, and spending time with her loved ones.
